"Hero" of the right, Ronald Reagan, raised the debt ceiling 17 times, because of the lost revenue from his early tax cuts. Talk about living beyond your means, "lets just charge it". Of course he latter had to increase taxes, and the economy did well afterward, as well as when Clinton raised taxes. In fact we haven't seen as robust an economy since the era of Clinton. What the right doesn't realize or chooses to ignore is if you "tighten the belt" of the poor and the middle class a lot less money goes into the economy and it faulters.
